Reading Votes P1-8

The following candidates we would like you to kindly consider casting a vote for are listed below on the sample ballots.

These candidates represent our ideals of common sense and decision making based on facts and data. They are hardworking individuals with the best interests of Reading voters in mind.

We endorse Town Meeting candidates who voted for minimalist compliance with the MBTA Communities Act this past November. Without their votes, Reading would be facing much more aggressive development.

We also endorse candidates who are ready to deal with Reading’s upcoming fiscal crisis. In addition to votes for two debt exclusions this coming April Town Meeting (and May special election), the Town Accountant has indicated that at our current spend rate, we will be facing a likely proposition 2 override in the coming years.  We need to maintain good fiscal management to push potential tax increases further in the future. We must also find ways to mitigate the impact of these debt exclusions on an already overburdened residential tax base.

We did not endorse anyone from the uncontested races and all candidates are commended for volunteering.
