Select Board Revisits Trash & Recycling Contract Vote: Special Meeting TONIGHT Oct 16th at 7:00 PM!
At it’s October 7th meeting, the Select Board was unable to thoroughly vet and vote on proposed trash/recycling contract options, given late-stage changes to the Republic proposal. The vote was delayed to allow updated vendor service options/costs to better inform the decision. Top contenders are currently Waste Management & Republic. A prompt decision is required to allow the selected vendor adequate time for a July 2026 start.
High-level considerations remain:
- Bi-weekly recycling vs current weekly pick-up
- Overall cost increases over the 5 year contract vs current contract
- Bulk item fee per item vs free pick-up in the current contract
